Branch Managers was started by Richard Cordova and Miles Herrmann. They met one another on a Wildland Fire Hotshot Crew in 2012, and have since been developing unique skill sets and honing their expertise working at heights. With Wildland Firefighting under their belts and a considerable amount of time in the air, they have a unique perspective for tree work. Whether it's opening up your balcony view, removing the widow-maker branches above your home, or helping you create a defensible space, they have you covered.
Miles
Miles came to Pagosa Springs in 2007 to snowboard, and the rest is history. Miles has traveled around the world working at heights in many industries with many different roles over the last 10+ years. Primarily specializing as an Industrial Trade Rope Access Technician Level 3, in rescue, confined space rescue, and rigging operations. He has worked in everything from large scale construction projects such as arenas and stadiums, commercial and residential buildings, oil & gas, renewable wind energy, entertainment, geotechnical work, and infrastructure including dams and bridges, to name a few. Switching gears and wanting to spend more time in Pagosa, the transition to tree work was a given considering his background. Miles has worked locally over the years in land/site clearing, thinning, and fire mitigation operations. Previously to industrial rope access, Miles has worked in forestry settings, including a role as a Wilderness EMT on a wildland fire hotshot crew, where he met Richard in 2012. Miles is the lead Snowboard Coach for the Continental Divide Freeride Team, so you're likely to catch him at Wolf Creek, or traveling for work/fun.
Richard
Richard is new to Pagosa Springs, but not new to the outdoors and challenging, demanding work. Spanning over 10 years, his career as a wildland firefighter includes 7 seasons on a wildland fire hotshot crew, many of those performing in a lead sawyer role. Richard has dedicated time to working with aircraft and helicopter operations, running engine crews, and many other roles and responsibilities in the wildland sector. Although not directly involved with fire, Richard and Miles are still currently on dispatch as a federal resource as Hazard Fallers for fires. Transitioning out of firefighting, Richard found himself working 300+ feet up in the air working with cranes, building wind turbines for several years. Following renewable construction, Richard has been working in industrial rope access in many settings, including heli-logging and blasting operations, and arena/stadium construction. In between these roles and in off-seasons, Richard has been performing work tree climbing in places such as Ruidoso, NM his hometown, and Las Vegas, NV. You can find Richard hiking one of the many beautiful trails in Pagosa, snowboarding at Wolf Creek, or hitting the gym.
